Spurs had the better of the first half exchanges, but Didier Drogba’s thunderous strike just before the interval put Chelsea ahead. Juan Mata’s contentious goal allowed Chelsea to go 2-0 up, but Spurs pulled one back through Gareth Bale.
As Spurs tried to find the second goal, Chelsea hit them on the counter to finish the game. The Blues added three more goals, of which Frank Lampard’s free kick stood out. Spurs’ defence was run ragged at the end and the players were clearly distraught at the final whistle at the perceived injustice about Mata’s goal.
